Guaranteed energy savings contracts, known as performance contracting, is a process existing buildings. The performance
contractor provides a guarantee that the energy savings will pay for the cost of the modifications over a time period that will not
exceed 12 years.
Sud Associates has been active in the area of performance contracting. We have provided varying levels of service to support our
clients. This has ranged from performing studies to identify projects, to developing and managing the RFP process, preparing
design drawings and overseeing construction.
Performance Contracting at Caldwell County Schools, Lenoir, NC. Provided engineering services for the administration of a
performance contract for 23 schools including RFP development, technical and economic evaluation of proposals, contract
negotiation, and construction period services. The contract negotiations reduced the line item price for domestic hot water boilers
by $45,000. Construction oversight identified classrooms with retrofitted lighting that had deficient light levels. After negotiation,
the vendor replaced the T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts with high output lamps and ballasts raising the light levels with minimal
increase to the energy usage.
Columbus County Schools, Whiteville, NC. Provided engineering services for this performance contracting project. We
prepared the RFP and evaluated proposals received for a total of 62 buildings.
Ashe Memorial Hospital, Jefferson, NC. We prepared the performance contracting RFP and subsequent proposal analysis for
proposals received on the main hospital, boiler plant, and Seagroves Care Center for an energy savings performance contract.
We provided engineering services and construction period inspections.
