ELECTRICITIES OF NORTH CAROLINA, INC.
The Power Audit Program offered free building energy surveys for buildings receiving electric service from an
ElectriCities utility.  The goal of the Power Audit peak loads by implementing modifications that often use
cogeneration and thermal peak loads by implementing modifications that often use cogeneration and thermal
storage.  The program was offered through the local public utility member and administered through ElectriCities
of North Carolina, Inc.  This group, electricity to approximately 372,000 customers or about 10% of the state's
population.

There was no cost to the customer for this survey but the building had to receive electric service from an member
utility to be eligible for this program.

Sud Associates has performed more than 25 surveys on industrial facilities, restaurants, hospitals, schools, and
warehouses.

The major components of a Power Audit Survey are:

  • A computer analysis of a year's worth of electric and other fuel bills, including a breakdown of the
    coincident peak.
  • On-site inspection of the lighting, heating, cooling, ventilating, process, and water heating systems.
  • Computer calculations to estimate demand and energy cost savings.
  • A customized report summarizing the survey observations and estimates.
